Breast Reduction

Breast Reduction

Although large breasts may seem attractive at first, they are actually one of the common causes of pain in the spine, back and shoulder areas. This is one of the most frequently performed procedures by plastic surgeons due to the marks lefts by bra straps carrying heavy breast tissue and also sweating and redness under the breast. The aim of these surgeries is to reduce the size of the breasts to become proportionate to the body structure of the patient and also to obtain full and upright breasts.

These operations are performed under general anaesthesia and last for approximately 3 hours. The length of hospital stay after surgery is usually 24 hours, and patients can usually return to their work and social life within 5 to 7 days. Special bras that support the breasts should be used for 4 to 6 weeks. Patients can only perform exercises that do not require arm and chest movements until the sixth postoperative week. After the sixth week, all kinds of sports activities are allowed.
