Why Aesthetics?

The story of humanity’s pursuit of beauty perhaps began with the drawings on cave walls.

According to the Turkish Language Association, aesthetics is defined as “that which is related to the sense of beauty.” The flowers planted in front of a home, the embroidery delicately woven into fabrics, or the paintings created to bring the splendor and beauty of nature indoors — aren’t these all reflections of our endless search for aesthetics?

People who strive to beautify their surroundings — their homes, streets, and cities — naturally desire a similar harmony and beauty in their own appearance. Our care for what we wear and how we look is also a product of this aesthetic pursuit.

Just as wearing an outfit that doesn’t align with our sense of aesthetics makes us uncomfortable, not finding our own body aesthetically pleasing can also affect our well-being. When a person is dissatisfied with a part of their body and seeks to correct what they perceive as a flaw, it is, in essence, the continuation of their desire for beauty — the pursuit of aesthetics.

Aesthetic surgery helps individuals enhance the parts of their body they find imperfect or unpleasing, contributing to their sense of confidence and overall well-being.

Frequently Asked Questions

Taking a shower the night before surgery helps reduce the risk of infection. Your stomach must be empty during the procedure, so stop eating and drinking at least 8 hours before surgery. If you must take medications like blood pressure pills, you may do so with a small amount of water upon your doctor’s approval. Certain herbal teas, vitamin E, and even foods like cherries and garlic may increase bleeding; reduce or stop them before surgery as advised by your doctor.

Smoking significantly impairs wound healing. It is recommended to quit at least two weeks before surgery and refrain from smoking for at least three weeks after.

Blood thinners, antidepressants, and certain acne treatments can increase bleeding or delay healing. Consult your doctor if you are taking any medications regularly.

Any incision in the skin leaves a scar. In aesthetic surgery, special materials and techniques minimize scars, and they can often be hidden in less visible areas.

After abdominoplasty or liposuction, avoid flying for at least one week. For other surgeries, plan your travel with your doctor.

You can resume light exercise after four weeks, provided it is not too strenuous.

Breast augmentation does not affect breastfeeding. After breast reduction, if the remaining gland and ducts are sufficient, breastfeeding may still be possible.

Botox effects last about 4–6 months. When the effect fades, there is no deformity or worsening of appearance.

Aesthetic surgeries can be performed in summer. Protect bruises and scars from sunlight. Discuss timing with your doctor according to your plans.

It depends on your skin structure. If your elasticity is good and you wear the compression garment as instructed, sagging risk is low.

Scar-reducing creams are recommended especially for patients with poor wound healing. They can help all patients achieve better scar results.

Yes, they can be done in the same session. Botox reduces movement, extending filler durability. It’s a common and effective combination.

No, it’s a misconception. Cutting or removing moles does not cause cancer. In fact, surgical removal treats many skin cancers.

No surgical result lasts forever. As tissues age, elasticity decreases, and fat thins. Sagging and deformities may occur but can be corrected surgically if needed.
